Jessica’s Baby Photo Shoot

I have now had two photo shoots with Danya for my children and I am in love with every single photo Danya did of them! She has captured precious memories for myself, my husband and our families to treasure forever! Danya is fantastic with children and I think she had a better technique of getting my newborn to sleep than I did! I cannot recommend Danya enough and I am just waiting for the right time to get booked in for a sitter session… then cake smash and so on! X

Little Jessica came to the studio for her baby photo shoot when she was just 8 days old and she was also the first newborn I photographed in 2018! Her Mum, Stacey, had visited the studio just a couple of months prior for her son Harry’s 1st birthday Cake Smash shoot! During the session we got chatting and she announced that she was pregnant and expecting baby number two in December! How exciting! So, as my newborns typically book 3 months in advance we booked in Stacey’s due date  for her baby photo shoot before she left.

Stacey and I kept in touch throughout the rest of the pregnancy and I was aware she was booked in for her c-section on the 28th December. I was delighted when I saw the announcement of their beautiful baby girl Jessica, and not long after Stacey messaged to book in a date for her session. As babies are always best photographed within the first couple of weeks of being born but rarely arrive on time I simply mark in the baby’s due date and leave space either side incase the baby arrives late or early, then when both Mum and baby are home safe and settled we schedule a date for the session itself.

When it came to Jessica’s photo shoot I knew that mum would love all things pink and girly so had the perfect setups in mind! I ordered some special headbands from one of my favourite vendors Wild Thistle Props

Jessica was amazing throughout her whole shoot and I’m sure you’ll all agree with me she’s is a little bundle of gorgeousness, who clearly takes after her brother! We got through lots of poses and a prop shot in the cream bucket before big brother Harry joined us for some sibling pictures. I always find it best for siblings to have their pictures taken either at the beginning of the session or have someone bring them along at the end as the newborn shoots can last a few hours if we need to stop for feeds etc, so as you can imagine it would be too long for big brother or sister to sit and wait for their turn and they would not be interested by the time we got round to photographing them.

As Harry was so young I knew it would be tricky to get a sibling shot of them together, we all know toddlers are the boss and there’s no way you can make them do something they don’t want to do! So, I got my thinking cap on. I advised Stacey to bring along a little treat for Harry like raisins. We were then able to work together to create the perfect sibling shot made out of two images. (You can see the magic behind the photo here on my blog).

I love that I can capture these special milestones and memories for families and it truly fills me with joy that I’ve found my calling. What makes my heart burst with pride is families, like Stacey, who return and choose me again when there are so many other photographers to choose from. I love building relationships with my clients and adore getting to watch babies grow in to happy little children, and even become big brothers and sisters!

Thank you Stacey for choosing me as your photographer.
